About the Role:
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), you will be responsible for guiding, teaching, and ensuring the safety of children between infant to school age at centres located in Hamilton, Ontario. Your responsibilities include maintaining a high-quality environment, assessing, observing, and caring for the individual needs of every child, and maintaining professional communication with parents and co-workers. As a supply educator, communication of significance must be shared with the supervisor onsite.

- The primary responsibility of the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is to implement the lead teacher’s program and daily activities. If no plan exists, develop a plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program plan.
- Planning, developing and implementing programs that contain stimulating activities for infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten and school age children, including field trips and special events as necessary.
- Promote the physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being of children in all activities.
- Provide constant supervision and prioritize the safety of children; understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and Sentient HR policies and procedures.
- Direct and participate with children in all planned activities.
- Maintain and complete required documentation of children’s development and interactions.
- Report any issues or concerns that may arise in accordance with proper procedures.
- Foster positive relationships and develop rapport through effective communication with members, staff, and parents.
- Work cooperatively as a team member, encourage others to do likewise, and consistently maintain a positive attitude.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this position, you must have 6+ months of experience working with children in a licensed childcare centre.
Additional requirements:
- An Early Childhood Educator Diploma from a recognized Ontario College.
- Registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Police check within the last six months.
- A valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
- A completed Sentient Medical Form completed (will be sent to you as part of the onboarding process).
- Knowledge of AQI, How Does Learning Happen (HDLH), and CCEYA.

- Professionalism, strong work ethics and excellent teamwork skills.
- Reliable transportation: ability to commute within Hamilton region is necessary.
- Occasional light to medium physical effort; lifting, bending and stooping.
- Must be able to work outdoors; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold.
